Avapow 6000A Jump Starter Review

Thanks for joining us here at Car Battery Nerd. And welcome to our Avapow 6000A Jump Starter Review.

Avapow aren’t the most famous brand out there, but they’ve grown in popularity and become one of the top sellers, and with plenty of highly positive reviews for this 6000 Amp model. Particularly with regards to the value of this product compared to similarly sized jump boxes on the US market.

Is it any good, though? Does the true power of this unit match with its claims?

That’s what we’ll be checking out in this review.

We enjoy checking out and rating jump starters. There are so many different variables to test, different kind of cars with varying engine sizes, and all with batteries in states ranging from old and dying to brand, spanking new ones with CCA higher than what its rated for.

As for price, here’s where to check it out on Amazon.

We also briefly review the Avapow 4000A (see specs/price), 3000A, and 2000A models.

See voltage, peak amps, capacity, dimensions and weight below. Then we’ll go on to discuss this unit’s performance and characteristics. We’ll let you know how it performs and if other portable jump starters may be more suitable for your specific needs.

A few high-end features on this relatively low-priced battery booster

Rating the Avapow 6000A Portable Jump Starter

The TLDR section above showed a basic summary of the best and worst aspects of the Avapow, and its price ranking.

Now let’s drill down into more detail.

Avapow Jump Starter 6000A

The good things, and who this model suits:

Simply massive power, in such a small, light unit
6000A is really a LOT of power. We’ve gone from the old days of jump starters that are basically chunky blocks that weight a ton (if you want one with decent power anyways), to these days with a portable little unit that can be carried easily in one hand. We never though we’d see a 6000 Amp jump starter that weighs under 3 pounds. The Avapow jump pack, in our analysis, had plenty of successes even jump starting the majority of vehicles with large engines, 5L and above. There are more consistent jump starters out there, though – read the Cons section for more of our opinion on that.

The very-low-voltage, force start, function works
That is, a special mode that brings a seemingly dead battery back to life. You see, the vast majority of jump starters will work on a battery that still has a small amount of voltage. But if the battery has gotten to a very deeply discharged state, there’s nothing they can do. It doesn’t matter if the jump box has some ridiculous power like 3000, or 5000, or even 10,000 Amps; it still wouldn’t have any effect on such a battery, without a special mode to solve this specific issue. At Car Battery Nerd, we remember early attempts by a battery booster maker that introduced a solution for extremely deeply discharged batteries, which was touching a special wire connector to the battery terminals to basically give the vehicle battery enough voltage so that the jump start can then be performed. In the latest jump starters, such as this one (this review, by the way, is Avapow’s 2024 updated version), this mode works at the touch of a button. We found that the Avapow’s low voltage mode works well in batteries with very low voltage, allowing the jump start to be performed.

Several high-end features, surprising for this price bracket
The above-mentioned genuine, working low-voltage, force start mode, 12V/10A DC outlet, multiple USB ports for charging devices, battery indicator (albeit just a row of lights, as opposed to an LCD screen with % charge), a couple of cables with which to charge it (one cigarette lighter socket, one Type C). These features, particularly the force start mode are typically seen on much more expensive portable battery jumpers.

The bad things and who would not need this model:

You’ll have to take special care to keep it dry and clean
It doesn’t have any waterproof or dustproof protection at all. That’s unlike all NOCO jump packs and the Gooloo GT4000, GT4000S and GT3000. That’s not an insurmountable task; you’d want to be keeping it somewhere dry and safe anyway, like the glovebox or the trunk of the car. And you’ll likely keep it in the (decent quality) carry case that comes with the Avapow.

Not as consistently high-performing in cases of poor battery health
In cases of batteries with very low CCA (Cold Cranking Amps – can be thought of as a measure of the health of the battery), the Avapow 6000A jump starter sometimes failed to make the jump. Despite the very large amperage, other factors come into play in these cases. In our estimation, the engineering of the clamps, and materials used may be a little lower than some competitors, like NOCO. A higher quality jump starter may have lower Peak Amps, but if it has higher quality clamps, it can end up delivering more power to the battery.

As well as the 6000A, Avapow have a couple of smaller models in the same range. While they are very similar, we detail the differences below.

Avapow 4000A Review

Pros and what it has in common with the 6000A model, our main review:

Pros arrow same high-end kit – of decent carry case, cigarette lighter socket charger, Type-C charger,

Pros arrow also has the Force Start function as mentioned in the 6000A review

Cons and what it lacks compared to the 6000A jumper:

Cons arrow the name gives it away – only 4000A compared to 6000A.

Cons arrow that means its suitable for any size up to 10L diesel and 10L gas vehicles

Avapow 3000A Review

Pros and what it has in common with the 6000A model, our main review:

Pros arrow with it’s medium-high level power and 23,800mAh battery capacity, it’ll deliverup to 50 starts on one charge. But remember, that is only if it’s 50 easy starts! The harder the start, the more power it’ll use up. So don’t expect it to last that long, in reality. Prepare accordingly.

Pros arrow yes, this model, too has the impressive Force Start function

Cons and what it lacks compared to the 6000A jumper:

Cons arrow 3000A is enough for 8L gas, comfortably, and, at a push, as much as an 8L diesel, but maybe only a fairly easy start for a vehicle at that size.

Avapow 2000A Review

Pros and what it has in common with the 6000A model, our main review:

Pros arrow Even with this low-priced model, still the same kit, as mentioned above.

Pros arrow as standard for these Avapow portable jump starters, the Force Start mode is present and correct.

Cons and features different to the GP4000:

Cons arrow only 2000A Peak Amps

Cons arrow 18,000mAh, almost that of the 6000A unit. We note, however, that this is still a decent capacity, higher than several Gooloo jump pack models.

Cons arrow used for up to 8.0L gas, and 6.5L diesel cars.

Update February 2026

Avapow have added an even more monstrous 8000A model.

Many of the advantages in this article apply, but this new model has an HD display to keep you right with whatever kind of jump starting you’re doing. And it’s faster charging than even the 6000A model.

Avapow 6000A Jump Starter Review Summary

That concludes our Avapow 6000A Jump Starter Review.

This is a surprisingly full-featured jump box, at this price level, particularly the impressive Force Start mode – typically seen on much more expensive products.

It has an impressive ability to jump start even vehicles with very large engines, a testament to the extremely high Peak Amperage.

That said, there are other jump starters, which can, by our estimation, deliver a more consistently high peak amperage to start vehicles in more cases. Particularly, those cases where battery CCA is low due to being in poor condition or when it’s very cold.

It also lacks any waterproof-dustproof protection, which is where the Gooloo jump starters, for example, can outmatch this model for overall quality. It does, though, beat out other competition, such as the models in our review of Nexpow jump starters.
