Here at the Car Battery Nerd, we’ve reviewed plenty of jump starters, but we’ve been noticing more and more interest from people looking for a specific combination.
They’re looking for the Best Jump Starter and Air Compressor combo; in other words, they’re looking for the best possible product that combines a powerful car battery jump box with an air compressor, most often for the purposes of tire inflation.
So, then. We had our task. And, dutifully, we went about the business of reviewing the best combined product of that type.
Luckily, a few good brands have produced this type of product, we had plenty of options from which to make our selection.
The winner was the Gooloo A5 (see the lowest price right here).
The Premium Pick was the Avapow TM28 10,000A – this model, on Amazon.
And coming in third, was the Auxito AJ01 6000A (check price).

If you’re a frequent visitor to this site, you’ll know we’ve tested and reviewed very many jump starters.
Air compressors, well, not so much. But we’ve used a few in our time, and we know what you want from this type of product as well.
So, naturally, we reviewed the products according to the product that best combined the two functions.
To that end, we looked at the following criteria:
- Build quality of the unit itself; hardiness and weather resistance
- Peak power and particularly whether the jump starter function is actually able to reach that peak amperage
- Quality of the clamps – ability to give a good connection with the battery terminals, and ruggedness

Gooloo A5
Plus points and who needs this:
The build quality is as good as you’d expect from a Gooloo product
Gooloo, in recent years, have shown themselves to be a match for the big automotive brands for the quality of their products. They may not be a household name yet, but we’ve been consistently impressed by both how well Gooloo products do their job and how well they last over time.
Strong results for successful jump starts
The Gooloo A5 had impressive results with all engines up to the mid-to-large size. We’d say this is as good as it gets for a 4000A jump starter. And, by the way, it’s very important you don’t pick your jump starter based purely on the peak amps. The fly-by-night budget jump starter brands are notorious for claiming massive peak amps but they don’t have the genuine ability to actually deliver that power. That’s not the case with Gooloo jump starters.
Air compressor works great
The tire inflator worked very well. It’s easy to connect and use. It works at a speed that is fairly average for a dedicated air compressor/tire inflator and, in a combined product, we’d say that’s absolutely acceptable.
The best overall package
When you take into account the Gooloo build quality, the fact that it has a large battery capacity of 20,000mAh (as much as the more expensive Avapow TM28), its power as a jump pack, and how well the tire inflator works, its price, 45W fast charging, then we’re calling it the best overall package.
Cons and why this model may not be for you:
May not be powerful enough for large diesel trucks, for example
Yes, it’s rated for all gas vehicles, and 10.0L diesel. But remember that not all jump starts are equal. 4000A may well be enough to jump start an 8 or 8 Liter deisel in ideal conditions. But in cases of very cold weather, or a battery that is very deeply discharged, more power may be necessary. In such cases, you may consider the Avapow TM28, the Premium Pick in this review.
Poor carrying case
The A5 comes with a carrying case, which is handy to keep the various parts it. But it’s a soft case, with a velcro flap top, meaning the hose, cables, and inflation nozzles could spill out if you’re not careful. More importantly, water and dust could easily find its way into the bag and ultimately into the unit itself. The Avapow and Auxito units both have a hard carry case with zip, which is much more suited to what you need.

Pros and who needs this :
Simply massive jump starting power
If you’ve got a truck or other vehicle with a really big engine, especially if it’s diesel, the Avapow TM28 is the one for you. 10,000A peak power is huge and Avapow’s jump starters have good quality internal components that allow it to deliver that power. On anything other than huge-engined trucks, the jump starts feel absolutely effortless, like its barely trying.
A tough beast
This unit is tough and the second you pick it up, you know it’s a well made, solid construction. The ABS and PC housing is very sturdy, even if you didn’t keep it in the carry case (which you should because, well, why not?), you don’t imagine it’d get damaged any time soon.
Huge screen makes it super easy to use
You can instantly know what’s happening at a glance. If you’re stressed, in a rush, or in darkness, this colourful HD screen really helps a lot. You’ll also see the battery level, and real-time tire pressure level. And just as importantly, this screen makes it very eay to know if you’re doing something wrong.
Solid performance of the air compressor
Like the Gooloo A5, the air compressor works well to inflate your car or truck batteries. And like that model, it also gets hot if you use it to put air in a completely flat tire, or into several tires’ you may need to give it a break to cool down if so.
Great additional features
The 4-inch display in itself feels like a feature above and beyond competitor models. Apart from that, it has a USB-A (18W) port, as well as the usual USB-C (30W). And it’s also rare for having a DC output port (12V/10A) that can be used to power small DC devices. There’s the LED flashlight that, unlike many, actually provides a strong light for you, if you’re ever caught out in the dark. Finally, there’s a very decent rugged hard-shell carry case to keep the unit and the various cables and nozzles in.
Cons and why this model is not for you:
It’s expensive
It costs more than double the other two winning products on this page. If you don’t have a large-engined car, it may be that you don’t need such a powerful jump starter, and you should select one of the less expensive models.

Auxito AJ01
The main pros of this booster/air compressor:
Fantastic value
If this were a jump starter alone, we’d be saying it’s outstanding value for a 6000A jump box. Given, that it’s got a tire inflator function that works very well, plus power bank capabilities, and a handy light, that’s a pretty great multifunctional product for this price.
Impressive jump-starting results
Similar to the Gooloo A5, it works well on the vast majority of middle to large engine sizes, in the vast majority of weather conditions and battery conditions. If you’ve fot a diesel vehicle, check out these diesel truck jump starters.
Nice, solid carrying case
Some jump starters just come with a pretty flimsy bag but the AJ01 has a solid, well-made carrying case to keep everything in. This can keep your battery booster/tire inflator lasting for longer, and particularly with this combined product, it has an inflator tube, nozzles and cables that you want to make sure stay together and things don’t get lost.
PSI readout and automatic shut-off works well
In our analysis, we found that the real time PSI reading was more accurate than most air compressor products. And the automatic shut-off is a handy function that works well in this Auxito model.
Cons:
Not the biggest battery capacity
Just 11,200mAh, compared to 20,000mAh that the Gooloo and Avapow models have.
Slower charging of devices
It’s not likely to be what you buy this product for, likely more of a bonus, but though it can charge your devices, it’ll do so relatively slowly. The type-C charging is 18W, compared to the 45W you’d get with the Gooloo A5, or 30W charging with the Avapow TM28.

We mentioned it in our jump starter and tire inflator reviews but it bears repeating:
Don’t choose your car/truck jump starter based purely on the claimed peak amps rating. If you see an incredibly high peak amps, in a device that costs next to nothing, ask yourself if you can really trust what they claim the device will do.
Many makers calculate their peak amps based on what level of power the battery in a jump box is technically capable of reaching, rather than what it can achieve in practice.
It’s crucial that the jump pack has high quality clamps that can maximise the connection with the battery terminals. Otherwise, it doesn’t matter how much power the unit has, it won’t ever get through to your vehicle battery.
That’s why we say, in the case of a jump starter particularly, you want to choose a brand that has strong feedback, ideally one with proven results indicating the quality of their products.
